In any case, if you look at the cost per 100 yards of four- lane street -- labor, materials, CO2 emissions -- plus all the impacts that are externalities -- dangerous neighborhoods created by speed, rolled-up window philosophy, and the heat island effect of asphalt and the plain sore-eye factor created by 99 percent of streets, then this road building is a pathetic proposition. Early 20th Century technology.

We need changes, so Down to Earth, keep posting those green posts.

Peace out, PaulPaul Haederhttp://pacificad.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4693000669302917676.post-33068746265649812572009-07-14T21:19:25.191-07:002009-07-14T21:19:25.191-07:00Wonderful information on the future of transportat...Wonderful information on the future of transportation. I like to keep a watchful eye on this topic as it's often the barmoter for people's general interest and enthusiasm for alternative energy sources, climate change work and overall eco-awareness. With all of the positive advancements talked about in this post, it appears the interest and enthusiasm levels are high. I hope we as citizens can help influence our elected officials to feel the same way.
Bart Mihailovich
Down To Earth
www.dtenw.com/blogs/down-earthBart Mihailovichhttp://www.dtenw.com/blogs/down-earthnoreply@blogger.com
